DBasia.news – Everton manager, Carlo Ancelotti admitted that he had no remorse after his team was eliminated in the FA Cup quarter-finals as they lost to the best team in the world, Manchester City.
The Citizens are still keeping their hopes of winning a quadruple or four titles a season. Apart from fighting in the FA Cup, Man City is also still competing for titles in the League Cup, Premier League and Champions League.
Everton played well to ward off City’s attacks for 80 minutes and lost 25% of the ball. However, The Toffees’ strong defense was unable to stem the wave of City’s attacks which eventually scored two goals.
“We were almost there, we did well and we did the best we could. We defended well and for at least 80 minutes, we controlled the game,” Ancelotti told BT Sport.
“I am satisfied that we were beaten by the best team in the world, they are the best.”
“We want to make them uncomfortable. Of course, they are comfortable with the ball but we defended well and we didn’t give space. We played the game we wanted to play.”
“They have the best players on the bench in the world. It was a good experience for us and no regrets.”
“The regret is the game against Burnley or the game against Fulham, but we are on time. We have 10 games in the league and we want to fight for our position in Europe next season,” said Ancelotti.
What’s next for Man City?
City are still competing competitively in four competitions. In the Champions League, Man City will face Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-finals in April.
Meanwhile in the League Cup Kevin De Bruyne and his team mates will play the final match, also in April against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur. This is the first tournament Man City can win.
Meanwhile, in the league, Pep Guardiola’s team is 14 points away from second place in the standings, Manchester United. This distance has led to the assumption that the 2020-2021 Premier League will end with City winning this season.
