DBasia.news – Odion Ighalo scored his debut goal for Manchester United in the Europa League last 32 second leg against Club Brugge at Old Trafford.
Ighalo was very happy to score his first goal at Man United. He also dedicated his goal to his late sister, Mary Atole.
After breaking into Club Brugge’s goal, the Nigerian national team player immediately lifted the Man United jersey to show a photo of Mary who died in Canada on December 12, 2019.
“I promise myself that every goal I print will be dedicated to my brother. So, he can always see and support me at Manchester United,” Ighalo was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
The departure of the brother had created a vacuum in Ighalo. The former Watford bomber also admitted that he had written his brother’s name on a white shirt and put the name Mary on his shoes.
“I am very emotional because I have not really caught that my brother has gone forever and I will never see him again,” he explained
Reporting from Sun, Mary is a true fan of Manchester United. Ighalo revealed that Mary always prayed that Ighalo could continue his career with Manchester United.
“He always prayed I would join United. Even when he came to watch me in the Premier League while playing for Watford, he hoped I would join United,” Ighalo was quoted as saying by The Sun.
“What hurts me is that I am now at United, but he is not here to see him. After all, I know he is up there looking at me,” concluded Ighalo.
