Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s 50th match, Manchester United vs Aston Villa ends in a 2-2 draw

DBasia.news –  Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had just faced his 50th match as manager of Manchester United, in the Week 14 of the Premier League match, which took place at Old Trafford, Sunday (1/12) PM. In this match, Manchester United achieved a 2-2 draw against Aston Villa.

Despite the status of the promotion team, Dean Smith’s Villa was able to provide fierce resistance to a team that did not win in two consecutive matches in all competitions. In fact, Villa had excelled in the 11th minute from Jack Grealish’s goal.

Man United was able to respond through Tom Heaton’s own goal on the 42nd minute. The ball bounced off Marcus Rashford’s header on the goalpost and on to Heaton’s body before entering Villa’s goal. The position became equally strong in the first round.

In the second half, Man United turned 2-1 through a goal by Victor Lindelof’s header on the 64th minute. However, the advantage lasted only two minutes, as Tyrone Mings equalized. On the onside position as Brandon Williams was late in going forward, Mings was able to equalize 2-2.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw and Man United added a winless record to three consecutive matches in all competitions. Solskjaer added to his match record as United manager with a 12th draw.

According to ESPN records, Solskjaer has played his 50th match in all competitions as United manager with a record: 24 wins, 14 losses and 12 draws.

“Sometimes you experience setbacks. We are getting better, we score more goals. Hopefully we can continue to do so,” said Solskjaer.

Solskjaer could be satisfied with his team’s performance in scoring goals. However, the draw could add to the pressure on him, as after this fight Man United will play Tottenham Hotspur under the direction of Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
