Olympique Lyon Successfully Brought in Lucas Paqueta from AC Milan

DBasia.news – AC Milan was finally willing to let Lucas Paqueta go. The Brazilian midfielder was sold to Lyon on a five-year contract.

“AC Milan announced that Lucas Tolentino Coelho de Lima’s player ‘Paqueta’ has joined Olympique Lyonnais by permanent agreement. The club wishes him all the best in the future,” wrote a statement from Milan on its official website.

Milan and Lyon have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of Paqueta on Tuesday (29/09/2020) local time. A day later, the 23-year-old player underwent medical tests and passed.

Lyon put the value of Paqueta’s transfer at 20 million euros. Some European media have estimated the price at 21 million euros plus a percentage of future sales.

“I am ready to work and show my abilities at Lyon. Everything has been going well since my arrival. My medical is going very well. Lyon is a popular team in Brazil,” Paqueta said in his press conference with Lyon.

“My experience in Milan has allowed me to progress. Now, I am focused on Olympique Lyonnais. I want to develop at this club.”

“I followed Lyon’s journey in the Champions League (last season). I was thrilld when (Lyon’s sporting director) Juninho contacted me. I will develop in Lyon,” he stated.

Juninho admitted that he had known Paqueta for a while. At that time, Juninho saw Paqueta’s action in Brazil.

“I saw Lucas (Paqueta) when he started his career in Brazil. He has a great left foot. He is versatile and very technical,” Juninho added.

Milan brought in Paqueta in 2019 after being redeemed from Flamengo for 38 million euros plus a bonus. A total of 44 appearances were made for Milan and he scored one goal.
