Despite going through a difficult period without a win in five successive matches, two Arsenal officials, Raul Sanllehi and Vinai Venkatesham continue to fully support Unai Emery.
Arsenal were defeated in five straight matches in all competitions against Crystal Palace (2-2), Liverpool (4-5 on penalties in the League Cup), Wolverhampton Wanderers (1-1), Vitoria SC (1-1 in the Europa League) , and Leicester City (0-2).
The minor period had cornered Unai Emery’s position as club manager. Arsenal started the worst start of the Premier League after 37 years. However, Arsenal officials still supported Emery while giving an ultimatum so that the club’s performance will soon improve.
“We have a strong belief in Unai that he is the right man for the job (coaching Arsenal). We are disappointed like everything with our results and performance at this stage of the season,” said Sanllehi, quoted by BBC Sport.
“We share our frustration with our fans, Unai, the players and all of our staff as they are not at the level we want or expect. Things have to develop to meet our targets this season.”
“We all work intensely behind the scenes to change the situation and we believe we can do so. We have never given up on the fanatical support we have received. We hope we can unite and be behind the team in this difficult period, when together we are much stronger,” he stated.
Arsenal are sixth in the standings with 17 points, eight points adrift
of Manchester City in the order of four Premier League standings. In other
events, Arsenal still participates in the Europa League and FA Cup.
