DBasia.news – A surprising confession expressed by former Chelsea player Oscar. The player who is now defending Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese Super League admitted he was invited to join Arsenal this summer.
In recent seasons, the former Chelsea star crossing to Arsenal has become a trend. This was done by Petr Cech, David Luiz, and most recently Willian.
The transfer of these players was caused because the contract had expired or was no longer used at Chelsea. Arsenal brought them at a relatively cheap price, some were even free.
Oscar admitted that the invitation to join Arsenal was conveyed by David Luiz and Willian. Fellow Brazilian players, the three of them still communicate regularly.
“They (David Luiz and Willian) called me because we had good communication. They told me to come to Arsenal,” Oscar told Fox Sport Brasil.
Arsenal do need a new attacking midfielder after Mesut Oezil’s future is increasingly uncertain. It seems that Willian and David Luiz were sent by the Gunners’ management to persuade Oscar.
The 29-year-old player welcomed Luiz and Willian’s offer with enthusiasm. But Oscar doubts he will ever return to play in Europe this summer.
“For me, it is a little more difficult to leave because I still have a contract with Shanghai. I really want to go back to Europe but not now,” he added.
“I am currently doing well in China. I still have a contract that I hope to fulfill.”
Although now a career in China, Oscar’s career with Chelsea cannot be said to be a failure. He appeared for five seasons with the Blues and successfully presented two Premier League titles and one Europa League trophy.
With his current age, Oscar is still worthy of a career in Europe. However, the amount of payment he received in China, of course, could not be ignored.
