DBasia.news – The 2022 World Cup break has not stopped Todd Boehly’s steps as the new owner of Chelsea. Continuing the steps after changing management and replacing the coach, Thomas Tuchel to Graham Potter, now Boehly has appointed a new transfer teacher.
He is Paul Winstanley who serves as Chelsea’s Director of Global Transfers and Talents. Winstanley followed Potter after previously being Head of Recruitment at Brighton & Hove Albion. Winstanley was the choice of Boehly and Behdad Eghbali to be involved as a player recruitment specialist for the future.
Chelsea see Winstanley as a multi-talented recruiter and his experience is needed by Graham Potter’s coaching staff to build the Blues squad.
“Winstanley arrives at Stamford Bridge after eight years with Brighton & Hove Albion, initially as talent identification manager and then as head of recruitment. Winstanley played a major role as Brighton built a reputation for finding and developing talent,” wrote an official statement from Chelsea.
“Chelsea FC would like to thank Brighton for allowing him to take this new opportunity with Chelsea. He will join Chelsea soon.”
“Paul will be a great addition to Chelsea. He is highly respected and a key senior addition as we continue to build a world-class sporting team with depth of talent, ambition and commitment who we will work with to push Chelsea forward. Paul shares our philosophy and would fit very well with the organization,” added Eghbali as co-owner of Chelsea.
Winstanley is delighted to join Chelsea and is challenged to be involved in a long-term project the club is developing.
“I am delighted to be joining Chelsea and continuing to work with Graham Potter and his team. There is real excitement and momentum around this new ownership and project. I look forward to working with an amazing group of colleagues as the club enters a new era,” added Winstanley.
