Pep Guardiola: Goals doesn’t come from Santa Claus

DBasia.news – Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has said that his team will score more goals again if the players improve on the pitch. Guardiola said that ahead of the Man City match against Newcastle United on Boxing Day Premier League, at the Etihad Stadium, Sunday, December 27, 2020, am.

City’s goal this season is unique like an anomaly. The Citizens have only scored 19 goals in 13 Premier League games and that record is different from previous seasons when they scored 37, 40 and 42 goals at the same stage.

On the other hand, Manchester City’s defense is improving as they have only conceded 12 goals. However, Guardiola’s team plays defensively. No doubt Guardiola hopes his players would work hard to produce goals that don’t just come easily.

“Our game has to come back because goals do not come as gifts from Santa Claus. It comes from our performances,” said Pep Guardiola as quoted by Reuter.

“There is no doubt about our mentality. We have to refresh our philosophy and there are things to adjust. The challenge now is to score more goals and we will increase the level from one game to another.

The sharpness of Kevin De Bruyne and his team mate’s goals will be tested by Newcastle United in the continued Premier League match on Boxing Day, Sunday (27/12) at 03.00 WIB. Man City have won their last 11 home games against Newcastle in the league, scoring 39 goals and conceding seven. The Magpies have also not won any of the 16 away league games against City (two draws and 14 defeats).
