DBasia.news – Arsenal’s failure when competing at the Emirates Stadium made former Arsenal player, Perry Groves open his voice. Groves considers since being trained by Unai Emery, Arsenal’s performance has even worsened.
Emery joined Arsenal in 2018. He replaced Arsene Wenger who stayed there for 22 years.
Initially, Emery showed good performance. But lately, Arsenal even got worse and Emery is now threatened with being fired.
“I think, when Emery first entered there, there was intensity because it was too comfortable under Arsene Wenger and he made his position clear. The game is much more intense, players run more,” said Groves at Soccerway.
“He played 22 matches without defeat and in the match against Spurs they had trailed 1-2 and returned. There is a real breakthrough about Emirates.”
“And what happened was he got rid of players he didn’t want, like Monreal, Petr Cech, and Aaron Ramsey, but then the players who were brought in, whether it was by him or the director of sports, they were no better. That intensity has decreased with the team he was supposed to build.”
“The problem with Arsenal’s situation with Unai Emery is, if you watch them against Leicester, and I have watched Arsenal a lot this year, there is no structure. There doesn’t seem to be any philosophy.”
“Unai Emery doesn’t seem to know his best formation, he doesn’t seem to know what players should play in that formation and I think the players have lost confidence in him. I don’t think the players understand it now,” Groves added.
