DBasia.news –  Two Premier League players, Paul Pogba (Manchester United) and Tammy Abraham (Chelsea), became victims of attacks on social media. Phil Neville wants the football community to boycott social media.

It is no longer a secret, the development of the era in the era of modern football cannot be separated from social media and technological developments. Interaction between footballers and fans can occur through social media.

The problem is because of its simplicity, many people also abuse social media to say what they want, let alone derogatory racial concerns, to certain players who have made mistakes or performed poorly.

Pogba and Abraham had become racial victims. Both failed to score a penalty and failed to give their team the victory, plus their black skin, citizens easily insulted them because of their ‘differences’.

Chelsea and Man United strongly condemned the insults with racial overtones. Pogba’s teammate, Harry Maguire, openly asked the authorities in social media to be firm with the accounts of racial perpetrators.

“Disgusting. Social media must do something about it. Stop these pathetic insults that create multiple accounts to insult people,” wrote Maguire at @HarryMaguire93.

Phil Neville, coach of the British women’s national team, had called on footballers or the football community to boycott social media. Neville expressed the matter as there were too many footballers who had became racial victims at social media.

“I personally think we have to take firm steps now as a football community. My players, Premier League stars and other divisions have social media, and I wonder if we should now turn off social media,” Neville said on Sky Sports.

“Twitter and Instagram will not do anything about it (racism). They send you a reply saying they will investigate, but nothing happens.”

“I have completely lost confidence with whoever is leading social media, so as a football community in terms of sending strong messages, let’s turn off social media and see the effect on social media companies or their steps afterwards,” he concluded.
