DBasia.news – Two Barcelona players, Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho, are expected to be greeted with intimidation by Manchester United fans when they visit Old Trafford, in the first leg of the Champions League big eight on Thursday (11/4) at 2:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time.
Certainly not a warm welcome in the form of appreciation but the possibility of ridicule or whistling, given that Suarez and Coutinho had once defended the club which is, in fact, United’s arch rivals, Liverpool.
Coutinho, 26, has predicted the intimidation he will receive and also when Suarez visited Old Trafford later. But, according to him, it becomes a motivational motivation to perform optimally with Barcelona.
“If they scoff at me and Luis Suarez, then that is normal because there Old Trafford is normal and it is normal to remember the team we have defended (Liverpool). But that will not make any difference to me,” Coutinho told the Mirror.
“Even more than that, it was an encouragement to play better and be more focused. I knew the game against Manchester United was special, I learned that all my time at Liverpool when we lived very intensely with fans.”
Coutinho, who has played at Liverpool for five years (2013-2018), instead has confidence that he will feel doubted satisfaction if Barca win the match at Old Trafford and then get rid of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side from the Champions League.
“I have it all (memories of playing in England) in my memory and, despite these different stages, if Barcelona get rid of United from Europe then it will be a double personal satisfaction for me,” concluded Coutinho.
