Pique Criticized Real Valladolid Home Stadium’s Pitch

DBasia.news – Barcelona defender Gerard Pique assessed the pitch condition of Real Valladolid’s home is very poor. Pique considered the pitch could injure the players.

Barcelona got three points after defeating Real Valladolid in the second week of 2018-2019 LaLiga at Estadio Municipal Jose Zorrilla, Sunday (26/8).

Ousmane Dembele scored the only goal of Barcelona at 57′. The winning made Ernesto Valverde squad collected six points from two matches.

Though Barcelona gained a positive result, there was something trouble for Pique. The 31-year-old player felt uncomfortable playing at Estadio Municipal Jose Zorrilla.

“The pitch was a disgrace, it’s a real shame. It’s not a case of not being able to play football, the real issue is that there is a risk of injury to professionals,” Pique said reported by Marca.

The Estadio Municipal Jose Zorrilla looked poor in some parts.

” I hope those responsible for this will take action and fix it,” Pique said.

Besides the pitch, Pique also praised the utilization of video assistant referee (VAR) in LaLiga. He assumed VAR could confirm anything on the pitch.

“If they gave that goal then we wouldn’t have won the match. The linesman has ruled it offside and then VAR has confirmed his decision. In the end, this is a job well done and I hope there are many more victories to follow,” Pique said.
