DBasia.news – Pirelli will certainly no longer be Inter Milan’s main sponsor next season. The two parties agreed to end their 26 years of cooperation. This was confirmed directly by Pirelli CEO, Marco Tronchetti.
“We are discussing with Antonello, Marotta and other Inter directors. We will not sponsor Inter’s jersey anymore, but our relationship with the club will continue,” Tronchetti Provera told Gr Parlamento.
“We have to stick to the facts, they are getting an injection of funds and the company affirms its commitment to Inter. Therefore, I think there must be a normal path,” added Provera.
It is suspected that the corona virus pandemic is a key factor in ending the cooperation with the famous Italian tire manufacturer. In lieu of Pirelli, the company that owns Inter, Suning Holdings Group is looking for companies from China.
Reportedly the logo with the words “CF” and “IM” will be used as a temporary replacement for Pirelli if there is no replacement. However, Nike is still the main supplier of Inter’s official jersey and has continued to work together since 1998.
The end of partnership with Pirelli ended their 26 years of relationship with Inter. Pirelli has become one of the iconic jerseys of all time and at Inter’s history with legendary players wearing them such as Ronaldo, Luis Figo, Javier Zanetti.
Apart from Pirelli there were also Inter’s previous sponsors from the mid-1980s to the 1990s such as Misura, FitGar, Cesare Fiorucci, and Inno-Hit. It is alleged that Pirelli has contributed approximately 250 million euros over their time with Inter.
