DBasia.news – Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic commented about the red card of Cristiano Ronaldo in the match against Valencia in the first matchday of Group H 2018-2019 Champions League at Mestalla Stadium, Wednesday (19/9) local time. According to Pjanic, the red card of CR7 was absurd.
Cristiano Ronaldo got the red card after the accusation of pushing Jeison Murillo in the penalty box. The referee Felix Brych who lead the match decided the red card after discussing with the goal-line referee Marco Fritz.
Luckily, the red card for Ronaldo didn’t bother the team’s balance. Juventus scored two goals from the white spot thanks to Miralem Pjanic at 45′ and 51′.
“Football is a strange game. We could have been 4-0 up after the opening period, then came that absurd sending off,” Pjanic stated in the club’s official website.
The red card was the first for Ronaldo in the Champions League. In fact, during the previous 153 matches, the Portugal national team striker never got kicked from the pitch.
“It was like the Lyon game (in 2016). We dug deep and found the spirit we needed to take us all the way to the final,” the midfielder continued.
Currently, Juventus are still waiting for the decision of how long Ronaldo be banned from the match. One thing for sure, CR7 won’t support La Vecchia Signora in the upcoming match against Young Boys.
