DBasia.news – Marcelo Gallardo, River Plate coach, is reportedly a candidate for the new manager of Brighton.
The Seagulls are in urgency to find a new coach after Graham Potter was hijacked by Chelsea.
As reported by the Daily Express citing South American media, Brighton is considering the appointment of Gallardo.
The Argentine coach has led River to play impressively since 2014. The 46-year-old tactician was also praised by Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola.
Gallardo won 14 trophies during his tenure with River Plate! He was also linked with Barcelona before Xavi was finally trusted.
Although Guardiola was praised on Gallardo in 2019, Pep believes the 46-year-old man is worthy of coaching a European club.
“What Gallardo has done with River is incredible,” Guardiola told TNT Sports.
“However, some things cannot be explained. Every year three coaches are named the best in the world, and he has never been one of them. I can’t understand it,” he added.
Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers, is also said to be on Brighton’s radar in addition to Gallardo. The Seagulls are now temporarily led by senior midfielder Adam Lallana who will double as player and coach.
