PSG and Marseille Were Accused for Bringing Down Olympique Lyon

DBasia.news – Former Liverpool manager Gerard Houllie said that Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Marseille plotted to influence the government to stop Ligue 1 this season.

Lyon became one of the most disadvantaged clubs for the cancellation of the 2019/20 Ligue 1 campaign, failing to qualify for European competition for the first time since 1997 after finishing seventh.

Houllier believes that PSG and Marseille, who are champions and runners-up, are conspiring to ensure that this season’s competition cannot be completed.

“There is an axis between OM and PSG and that is very detrimental,” claims Houllier.

“There is an alliance made with an agreement between the friends and I think there is a separate plan, namely a plan to bring down Lyon.”

“It will be covered up because I think the French government is involved. I attended all the press conferences by [president] Emmanuel Macron and [prime minister] Edouard Philippe, and they never talked about sports.”

“And coincidentally, in the end, it was stated that Ligue 1 could not be continued. That was the first time I heard them discuss sports. It felt a little strange.”

Houllier also felt that the decision was unfair. According to him, if the season must end, then it should be annulled completely by not crowning any champion.
