DBasia.news – The success of winning the Ligue 1 title in 2021-2022 has strengthened the confidence of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) to defend Kylian Mbappe. The future of the 23-year-old player is still in question.
PSG locked the title after a 1-1 draw against Lens at the Parc des Princes, Sunday (24/4). An additional point was enough for Les Parisiens to secure their tenth Ligue 1 trophy.
Lionel Messi stole the public’s attention as this was the first time he won with a club other than Barcelona. But Mbappe’s future remains in the spotlight.
As is known, Mbappe’s contract with PSG will expire this summer. The offer of a contract extension offered by the management still hasn’t made the AS Monaco academy player tempted.
Mbappe is said to have made up his mind to move to Real Madrid. The two parties have even reportedly been in communication.
After bringing PSG to victory, Mbappe was again asked about his future. But he never gave a firm answer.
“Nothing has changed, so there’s nothing to say now,” Mbappe said after PSG were confirmed to have secured the 2021-2022 Ligue 1 title.
Mbappe is believed to be making a decision in the next few days. Many people believe in the end he will leave PSG.
However, PSG sporting director Leonardo showed a different belief. He trusts the player
still have a chance to stay and extend his contract.
“We’ve always been in direct contact, I think he’s telling the truth. Mbappe is thinking about his future,” Leonardo told Sky Sports.
“I think there is a possibility that he will stay at PSG and leave as well. But Mbappe is really thinking about it now.”
Leonardo did not dismiss Madrid as the club most interested in using Mbappe’s services. Los Blancos have been trying to hijack him since last summer.
Leonardo also implied a message to Madrid. He seemed determined to thwart the ambitions of the Spanish giants to woo Mbappe.
“Madrid believed for three years that Kylian Mbappe would end up there. Maybe they were too sure about that?” he concluded.
