PSG Need Messi to Win the Champions League Trophy

DBasia.news – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) coach, Thomas Tuchel, made a surprising comment after his team lost 0-1 to Bayern Munich in the 2019-2020 Champions League final, Monday (24/8/2020).

The Champions League trophy has been PSG’s main target since they were owned by Qatari tycoon Nasser Al-Khelaifi in 2011. However, nine years later, this has not yet been achieved.

Even though a number of star players have been brought to the Parc des Princes. Neymar became the most expensive with a price of 222 million euros when he was bought from Barcelona in 2017.

Even so, PSG often received bad luck in the Champions League. They never got past the quarter-finals.

The 2019-2020 season looks like it will end differently for PSG. They were able to advance to the final for the first time.

Unfortunately PSG failed to complete it with a title. They had to beat Munich with a score of 0-1 in the match at Estadio da Luz, Monday (24/8).

This failure did not actually make the president give up. Al-Khelaifi is determined to win the European club terelite competition next season.

“We have everything we need to win, but that’s football. We will work to win next season,” Al-Khelaifi told RMC Sport.

“Tonight, we believe more than ever. I promise we will win the Champions League.”

As president, Al-Khelaifi certainly knows very well how to make this happen. One of them is by bringing in new players.

The name Messi then came to the surface as a figure that PSG needed. Thomas Tuchel as the coach admitted that he would happily accept the arrival of the Argentine superstar well.

“He (Messi) will be very welcome. If we want to compete at this level, we have to use the transfer window to make the squad stronger,” said Tuchel.

Hijacking Messi from Barcelona now looks like an impossible thing to do. The relationship between the two parties is not good, so separating is one of the best options.

PSG are believed to be one of the few clubs capable of buying Messi from Barcelona. Their financial strength seems unlimited since they were led by Al-Khelaifi.

The arrival of Messi is predicted to make Neymar’s performance even more optimal. The combination of the two has indeed brought Barcelona to dominate Europe in 2015.

Interestingly, Messi and Neymar have not won the Champions League again since separating in 2017. Maybe the two of them could end that famine if they got back together.
