PSG Secures the Top of the French League Standings
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Monday (10/07/2019) AM, Paris Saint-Germain managed to secure the top of the French League standings. However, PSG should not be careless, as they are only two points apart from the second position, namely Nantes.
PSG posted a 4-0 victory over Angers thanks to Pablo Sarabia’s brilliant performance who packed one goal and two assists at the Parc des Princes on Saturday (5/10).
The victory has made PSG collect 21 points or five points ahead of Angers (16) who was initially second.
However, a few hours later, PSG’s stalker changed to Nantes who won a narrow 1-0 victory over OGC Nice at La Beaujoire-Louis-Fonteneau, Sunday (6/10) AM.
The victory ensured by Moses Simon’s goal in the 86th minute has made Nantes move up to second place and collect 19 points or cut PSG’s lead distance back to two points again.
A day earlier, Marseille’s undefeated record which had lasted six weeks had come to an end on a trip to Amiens headquarters. In front of the de la Licorne Stadium’s public, Marseille were defeated 1-3 from the host, Saturday (5/10) AM.
The cessation of the positive trend was also experienced by AS Monaco, who previously won two consecutive matches, but lost 1-3 in Montpellier, Sunday (6/10) AM. The defeat was exacerbated by Aleksandr Golovin’s expulsion from the field in the 81st minute of the match.
Meanwhile, the Rhone-Alphis Derby became the debut game for the new Saint-Etienne manager, Claude Puel, on Monday morning, ending with his first victory after Les Verts beat Olympique Lyon 1-0 thanks to a late goal by Robert Beric.
The result has also slumped Lyon and has now gone through seven matches without a win.
Lyon manager, Sylvinho, has two weeks of international break to immediately find solutions to the problems experienced by his team if he does not want his job at the Groupama Stadium to last only for a moment.
