Ready to Resume, DFB Pokal Scheduled to Play on June 9

DBasia.news – The Bundesliga competition is not the only German football competition to resume. The German football federation has determined the schedule for the continuation of the match at the DFB Pokal.

DFB Pokal 2019-2020 season has reached the semifinals. The four remaining teams are Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen and FC Saarbruecken from the fourth division.

Initially the semifinal round will be held on April 21 and 22 with a single match format. But the corona virus pandemic has forced the schedule to be postponed.

The German football federation as the operator of DFB Pokal has set a replacement date. The semifinals are planned for June 9 and 10 while the final will be July 4.

The schedule awaits for government approval. But it is certain that all matches will be held in private.

In the first semifinal, defending champion, Munchen will host Frankfurt. While a day later, it is Saarbruecken’s turn to play as the host when dealing with Leverkusen.

The escape of Saarbruecken could lead to new problems. The team that was established in 1909 has stopped playing because the division they played in, Regionaliga Sudwest has been halted.

Saarbruecken’s readiness is doubted at this fight. Club management is also unable to implement high security protocols as implemented by the Bundesliga in the midst of the pandemic.

Last season, Munchen emerged as champions after the final beating RB Leipzig 3-0. These results confirm the dominance of Die Roten in this tournament with a collection of 19 trophies.
