Real Madrid lost to Alcoyano, this is Zinedine Zidane’s response

Zinedine Zidane doesn’t think Real Madrid’s poor results in the Copa del Rey were embarrassing. Zidane feels that winning or losing is part of football.

Playing as a guest in the match that took place at the Campo Municipal El Collao, Thursday (21/1) AM, WIB, Madrid were beaten by a score of 1-2 through extra time. The two teams drew 1-1 until normal time ended.

Madrid, who played many superior coating players at the end of the first half, through Eder Militao’s header. But the hosts were able to equalize through Jose Solbes’ shot with ten minutes remaining.

Alcoyano finally turned ahead five minutes before the match continued to the penalty shootout. Through a counter-attack scheme, Juanan scored the winning goal for the hosts.

Madrid coach, Zinedine Zidane defended his squad. He considered Isco and his team mates were just unlucky.

“I am the coach and this is my responsibility. “The lads tried everything and if we get a goal it will be a completely different game,” Zidane said on the club’s official website.

“The opposing goalkeeper made two or three great saves. Their second goal didn’t escape our mistake and now we’re out.”

Despite admitting to being disappointed, Zidane refused to think that the defeat was considered a disgrace. According to him, defeat was normal even though it was accepted from a team that was a level lower than them.

“We played against the Segunda B team and should have won the game but this is football. This defeat was not embarrassing or anything like that,” he added.

“These are things that happen in a footballer’s career and I am responsible. We will continue to work hard.”

Madrid shouldn’t dissolved in this failure. The club in the Spanish capital still has the opportunity to win trophies in two other prestigious events, namely LaLiga and the Champions League.
