DBasia.news – La Liga club Real Sociedad announced that their new player brought in from Manchester City, David Silva was tested positive for the Corona virus. Silva tested positive after testing with his new club.
Silva came to Socieadad as a free agent after his contract at Manchester City ended. Sociedad has confirmed that the midfielder is currently showing no symptoms of any illness and is in isolation.
“Real Sociedad informs that @21LVA (David Silva) has been tested positive for Covid-19 in a test carried out at Policlinica Gipuzkoa. The player is asymptomatic and is self-isolating,” said the official Real Sociedad statement via Twitter quoted from Sky Sports, Tuesday (1 / 9).
Silva has previously been introduced by La Real. The former Valencia playmaker said at a press conference that he is targeting more trophies upon his return to Spain.
At City, Silva won four Premier League titles and was part of seven domestic cup wins, excluding the Community Shields. He was also part of the Spanish national team which won two European Championships and a World Cup between 2008 and 2012.
“This team is playing great football and I hope to add to it here and have a great year at the club. I have high expectations in terms of football, we will play and I think we can compete for the trophy,” said Silva. “I was lucky enough to win a lot in my career. I am very competitive and I will try and do the same here because that’s why I was brought in.”
Silva, long a part of City’s unanswered journey to Champions League glory, will play in the Europa League next season thanks to Sociedad’s sixth-place finish in LaLiga. And that is a prospect he enjoys.
“Of course, after years of playing in Europe, you want to continue to do that. I also came because I like the style of football the team plays,” said Silva.
