By db-admin
DBasia.news – Andre Schuerrle has decided to retire early from the world of football. He claimed to have lost interest since joining Chelsea.
Schuerrle decided to retire at the age of 29 years, Friday (07/17/2020). He ended his contract at Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday (7/15) before the announcement of his shoe hanging.
Reporting by Bild, Schuerrle revealed the reason he retired at a relatively young age. The former German national team player at the 2014 World Cup admitted he no longer has desire to play football.
Schuerrle revealed that he had begun to lose motivation to play football when he was a Chelsea player during the 2013-2015 period. To Bild, he acknowledged that his time at Stamford Bridge was the “toughest punishment” he had ever been through.
As is known, Schuerrle was bought by Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in 2013. But he was rarely given the chance to appear by manager Jose Mourinho, with only 65 appearances in all competitions and recorded 14 goals before being offered to Wolfsburg in 2015.
After joining Wolfsburg, Schuerrle was even more depressed and depressed by the expectations placed on him. He only lasted one season there before moving to Borussia Dortmund in 2016.
Together with Die Borussen, Schuerrle failed to find his best performance and only played as many as 51 parties with 8 goals in two seasons in all competitions. As a result, he was ‘thrown’ as a loan player to Fulham in 2018 and Spartak Moscow (2019).
After his loan spell at Spartak Moscow ended in 2020, Schuerrle returned to Borussia Dortmund. Instead of continuing his career at Signal Iduna Park, he made up his mind to quit football.
“I don’t want to play football anymore. I am really at the end,” Schuerrle told Bild.
