DBasia.news – Since recruited from Stoke City this season, Xherdan Shaqiri couldn’t enter Liverpool’s main squad. However, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp asked Shaqiri to be patient.
Klopp promised Shaqiri will get his chance soon. Shaqiri came to Anfield from Stoke City with £13,5M on July 2018.
But, so far, the former Inter Milan player often sits on the bench.
According to Transfermarkt record, Shaqiri just played for 32 minutes for Liverpool this season. The 26-year-old player faces the difficulty in replacing The Reds’ prominent triangle, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firminho, and Sadio Mane.
“He is very positive. It’s not only from the performances but also as a guy in the dressing room,” Klopp said.
“Everyone loves Shaq, that’s how it is, without playing plenty of minutes and that is more my mistake than his,” the manager continued.
“He has done everything to play, to be honest. I made different decisions but his time will come, that’s for sure,” the former Borussia Dortmund coach explained.
Xherdan Shaqiri was one of some players recruited by Liverpool in 2018 summer transfer market. Besides Shaqiri, The Reds also strengthened the squad by recruiting Allison, Naby Keita, and Fabinho.
The additional players gave a positive impact. Currently, Liverpool stay as the runner-up of 2018-2019 Premier League with 15 points from 5 matches.
