DBasia.news – Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has denied reports that he will leave The Cityzens to coach the Brazilian national team. Guardiola actually hinted that he would extend his tenure at the Etihad Stadium.
Recently, there was news that the Brazilian national team wanted Pep Guardiola to replace Tite as coach of the Selecao. Tite’s term of service will end in December 2022 or after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Responding to the news, Pep Guardiola firmly gave his rebuttal. Guardiola insists he is happy at Manchester City and honors his contract, which expires in June 2023.
Not only that, Guardiola also admitted that he was ready to extend his tenure if the club’s management wanted it. However, this time is considered not the right time to discuss related to his future.
“Not now, come on. I’m still under contract here and I’m happy to be in this team,” Guardiola said as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
“I’m ready to be here forever. There’s no better place to sign a new 10-year contract. But I’m not going to extend my contract for that long. It’s not the right time [to discuss the future].”
“I don’t know where the news came from,” he concluded.
Guardiola himself joined Man City in the summer of 2016. Since then he has won 10 domestic trophies including three Premier League titles. Even in this season City have the opportunity to embrace the treble.
