Revealed, Real Madrid had refused a big offer for Marco Asensio

DBasia.news –  Real Madrid experienced a drastic phase of decline this season after winning three consecutive Champions League titles. This season, El Real only won the FIFA Club World Cup title.

Even though his team won a lot of success, luck didn’t seem to want to side with one of their players, Marco Asensio. As is known, the Spanish player is indeed quite rarely the main choice for Zinedine Zidane and only appeared 20 times as a starter from a total of 42 matches.

This, of course, makes Asensio begin to be associated with the club’s exit, there are several top clubs which at that time claimed to be interested in bringing it, namely Liverpool and Juventus.

After a long time reluctant to talk about rumors of the transfer of his client, Asensio’s agent Horacio Gaggioli issued a quite surprising statement. According to him, Real Madrid had refused an offer worth 180 million euros for the Spanish passport player.

“Last year there were indeed offers that were around 150 and 180 million euros, but Real Madrid didn’t care about it at all. Indeed there was always interest from big clubs, they also often asked whether Marco wanted to leave or not,” Gaggioli said as reported by Goal.

Although deciding to stay at the Bernabeu, the fate of Asensio is not much different from the previous season. The 23-year-old rarely gets the chance to play Julen Lopetegui or Santiago Solari. But everything changed after Zidane returned, he started five times in a total of six matches that had been played.

Closing the conversation, Gaggioli reiterated that Asensio had no plans to leave the club shortly.

“Asensio has always said that he is very happy at Real Madrid and is only interested in achieving a lot of success there. He is still very young and continues to show progress. The club is also very happy with its performance,” explained the man who was also the agent of Pablo Zabaleta.
