Revealed, Roman Abramovich Has Been Offered a Chance to Purchase Tottenham’s Large Shares

DBasia.news –  Roman Abramovich apparently had almost purchased Tottenham Hotspur before finally purchasing Chelsea. This was revealed by Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Roman Abramovich purchased Chelsea in June 2003 from Ken Bates. At that time, Bates used the sales of the Blues to purchase Leeds United.

After obtaining Chelsea, Roman Abramovich was very popular in bringing in star players. A number of top footballers have been based at Stamford Bridge.

Even so, apparently Chelsea are not always Roman Abramovich’s first choice. There are at least two clubs from the City of London that are wanted by Abramovich.

After consulting with Sven-Goran Eriksson, Roman Abramovich chose to purchase Chelsea. In fact, Abramovich even flew Eriksson to Russia.

“Roman Abramovich wants to buy a club in Moscow and I went there with Pini Zahavi. We saw all the clubs and I said, buy Dinamo because it has the best facilities,” recalls Sven-Goran Eriksson.

“While on vacation, the confidant of Roman Abramovich contacted me. He changed his mind and wants to purchase a club in London. He asks, Tottenham or Chelsea?”

“At that time I asked, what was the purpose? After he said he wanted to win, I said Chelsea, because they had to change half the team. At Tottenham, he had to change the whole team,” he continued.

Sven-Goran Eriksson’s statement was not flase. Before Roman Abramovich arrived, Chelsea ended the season in fourth place, while Tottenham only finished in 10th.
