Riccardo Montolivo Satirizes AC Milan after being Disappointed

DBasia.news –  After retiring as a player, Riccardo Montolivo revealed that in his last year he had an unpleasant time. Montolivo was disappointed and insinuated AC Milan who took his post as captain after Bonucci’s arrival.

Montolivo left the Rossoneri at the end of the 2018/19 season, after he was removed as the team captain for no apparent reason.

The 34-year-old midfielder announced the decision to retire in an interview with Corriere dello Sport, Wednesday (11/13). He failed to find a new club in the transfer market last summer.

“When (coach, Gennaro) Gattuso preferred to move Calabria’s position (defender, Davide) further ahead than letting me play against Fiorentina, I realized that the problem was not with me and the answer to my question about it would never exist, “Montolivo claims.

Montolivo lost his post as captain after Milan gave the team command to the new signing, Leonardo Bonucci who was carried off by Juventus at the beginning of last season.

“I am no longer the team captain after (Leonardo) Bonucci’s arrival, when (Massimilliano) Mirabelli and (previous coach, Vincenzo) Montella told me that I had to hand over the armband,” he said.

“I answered that it didn’t seem like a good idea because Milan is a great club with a strong balance.”

“Other colleagues like (Giacomo) Bonaventura could actually fill the role (as captain) better and the decision should be made in the locker room.”

“They (Milan’s management) responded that there was no need for discussion, the decision came from (former) president Yonghong Li. I got the same answer from Bonucci.”
