RKC picks the Third Victory
By db-admin
DBasia.news – The RKC Waalwijk promotion team reaped their third win in the Dutch League this season by silencing their guests FC Twente 3-0 in match week 18.
However, the victory won thanks to Dijol Stijn Spierings following Anas Tahiri’s opening goal was not enough to make the RKC move from the bottom of the standings.
The RKC is still stuck as a caretaker with a collection of 11 points or at least five points adrift of safe distance, while Twente (19) remains in 12th place, according to the official Dutch League website.
Appearing before their own supporters, the RKC was first suppressed by Twente but their defense was able to confront the opportunities of Xandro Schenk and Calvin Verdonk.
When able to compensate for the game, RKC managed to open the scoring in the 12th minute through Tahiri’s goal that fired a shot from the left side of the goal face.
Two minutes into the second half, RKC successfully doubled its lead when Spierings’ long-range shot failed to anticipate goalkeeper Joel Drommel.
Twente tried to retaliate but goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen was quick to stop the chance from Rafik Zekhnini in the 57th minute.
Three minutes later the RKC increased their lead to 3-0 when Spierings scored his second goal using a Sylla Sow pass.
The RKC can now welcome a four-week holiday in hopes of leaving the relegation zone and surviving in the Dutch League after promotion earlier this season.
