The 44-year-old former England striker has signed a two-season contract with the A-League participating team and will start training at the end of May 2019 – after the season ends.

“I am looking forward to this challenge and determined to give success to a club that has a proud history in the A-League,” Fowler said on the Brisbane Roar official website.

“I really want to get started and make a difference. My family and I have had life experiences in Queensland, so I’m really happy to be back and be part of the Brisbane Roar family.”

Fowler did play in Australia when he entered the end of his career in the 2009-2011 period. At that time the original Merseyside man strengthened North Queensland Fury (2009-10) and Perth Glory (2010-11).

Fowler’s presence was welcomed by Brisbane Roar CEO, David Pourre. According to him, the club is not wrong to recruit Fowler who is hungry for success and has a good personality.

“I want to take advantage of this opportunity to congratulate and welcome Robbie at our proud club and also a successful club,” added Pourre.

“BRFC believes we have recruited very good people and someone who is hungry for success. I am sure our members, supporters, sponsors and fans will be very enthusiastic about welcoming the 2019-20 season,” he assured.

In the history of the club which was established in 1957 and based at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane has won two A-League titles and reached the stages of the Asian Champions League group in 2012, 2015 and 2017.

As other information, Brisbane is also owned by a Bakrie Group company from Indonesia. Rahim Soekasah is currently acting as President of Brisbane, assisted by Director, Helmi Rahman and Faisal Arief Subandi as CEO of Brisbane.
