DBasia.news – The Euro 2020 drawing for the qualification round has been released. Italy are in Group J with Bosnia-Herzegovina, Finland, Greece, Armenia, and Liechtenstein. Knowing that his team are not in the same group with Germany, Italy coach Roberto Mancini is delighted.
Germany surprisingly dropped to the second pot of Euro 2020 qualification after eliminated in the group phase of UEFA Nations League A Group 1. Moreover, they have to be degraded to UEFA Nations League B for the next season.
“It’s a good draw. Once we avoided Germany, any team we drew would be fine,” Mancini said.
Euro 2020 is one of the competitions that must be fought. Whatever the result is, it would significantly influence their FIFA rank.
“We have to qualify and remember all games must be played and won so we climb the FIFA ranking and go into the next World Cup draw in a stronger position,” he added.
Mancini also asked his squad to forget the bad memory in 2018 World Cup. The former Inter Milan coach reminded his squad that Italy have a great history.
“Our history is something else, not that of a side that missed out on the 2018 World Cup, even if these things can happen. We have always fought for the pinnacle of the spot, we won four World Cups and a European Championship.”
