DBasia.news – One place in the European Cup 2020 has been secured by the Italian national team after a 2-0 win over Greece in the group match continuing 2020 European Cup Qualification. Roberto Mancini is just a step closer to the victory of Vittorio Pozzo.
Italy won 2-0 over Greece at the Stadio Olimpico, Sunday (13/10), in the continued group J match 2020 European Cup Qualification. Two goals were scored by Jorginho through the white point on the 63rd minutes and one other goal was scored by Federico Bernardeschi on the 78th minutes.
The victory ensured that Italy qualified for the 2020 European Cup with perfect points, 21 points, from seven matches played. Italy wiped out a victory and Mancini needed just one more match to match Pozzo’s record.
One more victory will ensure Mancini wins the match with Italy for nine consecutive matches. According to Football-Italy, Pozzo did it in the 1938-39 season. Pozzo was an Italian coach who gave two World Cup titles in 1934 and 1938.
The record can be equaled by Mancini in the next fight. Italy will visit Liechtenstein’s headquarters, Rheinpark Stadion, Wednesday (10/16) 1:45 AM. Previously, Italy also had never won six consecutive matches in the 2020 European Cup Qualifiers.
Azeglio Vicini era in the 1986-87 season and Antonio Conte in 2014 only won a maximum of four games.
“Pozzo is a legend as he has won two World Cups, not because he won nine games in a row. It’s nice to see Olimpico like this and we hope to be even better next June (European Cup 2020),” said Mancini at Rai Sport.
