Ronaldo “disappeared” during the Atletico Madrid vs. MU match at the Wanda Metropolitano

Manchester United star, Cristiano Ronaldo, disappeared during the duel against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League last 16 2021-2022, at the Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, Thursday (24/2) morning WIB.

Cristiano Ronaldo is Manchester United’s hope to gain a goal against Atletico Madrid. The striker had a good report card against Los Rojiblacos when he was still defending Real Madrid.

The 37-year-old star has met Atletico 31 times in various competitions. From that opportunity, Ronaldo scored 22 goals which were summarized in 14 wins, nine draws and eight defeats.

Not surprisingly, Ralf Rangnick put Ronaldo as the sole striker. He was supported by Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes, and Marcus Rashford from the second row.

However, it was not easy for Ronaldo to open a shot. He was locked up by Atletico’s defense, which was guared by three barriers, namely Reinildo, Jose Gimenez and Stefan Savic.

Squawka noted, Ronaldo only fired two shots. In addition, the former Sporting CP only made one touch in the opponent’s penalty box throughout the match.

Even worse, Ronaldo failed to get past opponents, creating chances, shots on target, and crosses. Not surprisingly, Man United also had difficulty breaking into Atletico’s goal.

Fortunately, Athony Elanga emerged as a Manchester United hero from the bench. The young player scored a goal in the 80th minute. The match ended with the score 1-1.

Now, there is no other way for Manchester United to advance to the next round other than winning in the second leg which will be held at Old Trafford. The plan, the match was held on March 16.
