Ronaldo Failed Winning Men’s Player of the Year Award Due to Florentino Perez

Luka Modric
DBasia.news – Something was unusual spotted by Spanish media Tuttosport during the awarding night of Men’s Player of the Year. The event was conducted by UEFA at Grimaldi Forum, Monte Carlo, Thursday (30/8).
Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric entered the stage to receive the trophy. However, one nomination didn’t come to the event, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Juventus player seemed to know that he won’t be the winner.
Considering this fact, Tuttosport smelled something wrong. There came the information that Ronaldo should be the one who got the trophy.
Ronaldo’s failure was related closely to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez who intervened UEFA.
Perez is respected by UEFA and did his lobby to give the trophy to Modric. The reason was Modric is a Madrid player with the highest point in the 2018 World Cup. The history happened, Croatia, as the newcomer, passed to the final. Also, Modric contributed a great role.
It was also speculated that Ronaldo knew about this so he decided not to come. Perhaps this is Perez’ revenge against Ronaldo. But, the logical assumption is related to business. With Modric gaining the trophy, Madrid’s popularity will remain high and good for the business.
