DBasia.news – In the Giornata’s 10th Serie A against SPAL at the San Siro, the Rossoneri won 1-0. This made AC Milan win the inaugural victory under the tutelage of Stefano Pioli, who recently replaced Marco Giampaolo.
The host dominated the game by 57 percent with a total of 16 attempts, five on target, but SPAL was able to frustrate Milan in the first half.
It took the individual ability of the former Liverpool player, Suso, to be the differentiator of the match with his free kick on the 63rd minute. The goal was the answer to the Spanish attacking midfielder over the criticism that came to him him.
Milan won after two successive matches in the previous two matches with a 2-2 draw against Lecce, losing 1-2 to AS Roma. Il Diavolo Rosso currently ranks 10th in the Serie A standings with 13 points.
“I ask the guys to have a good enthusiasm to play, we give a little (chance to the opponent) and create opportunities,” Pioli said, as reported by Football-Italy.
“It’s a shame we kept the final result balanced until the end, but winning through suffering can be good for us, also for the match against Lazio (4/11),” continued the former Inter Milan and Fiorentina coach.
Pioli believes Milan can still flourish after the victory over SPAL. He also added that the team could not continue to depend on Suso to win or be a differentiator in each match.
“Suso has quality, he can still perform better and I am glad to train him, but we have to think like a team. You cannot win or lose just because of one player,” Pioli added.
“SPAL is has been challenging to stop for 90 minutes. In the second half, they played the defense and we played more clearly,” he continued.
“The team was able to develop and, if they do, anything can happen. There are some difficulties in the next matches, but we have to face it without fear,” he stated.
