DBasia.news – The 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar from November to December, and for the first time since 2002, the major quadrennial world football event will continue to be held in Asia, and this year in Qatar.
Several rules were also applied during the 2022 World Cup and one of them was a ban on fans consuming alcohol in Qatar. Security is ready to take the necessary steps if anyone tries to carry drinks in their luggage when they come to Qatar.
While alcohol is banned in Qatar, with a pending fine of 720,000 pounds or a six-month prison sentence for drinking in the open, alcohol can still be purchased inside the hotel.
The organizers will also allow beer to be available, due to World Cup sponsor Budweiser, in stadiums and fan zones during the World Cup, which starts on November 20, 2022.
In essence, alcoholic beverages are still available in certain areas, it’s just that fans aren’t allowed to bring their own alcohol. This is certainly different from the rules at the 2018 World Cup Russia, where bars in Moscow even ran out of beer due to high consumer consumption.
“There are special measures,” Colonel Jassim Abdulrahim Al Sayed of the safety and security operations committee told ESPN at a news conference in Doha. “I don’t think alcohol will be allowed through airports and luggage.
“There are locations where alcohol will be sold across the country,” Al Sayed added.
Added by Nasser Al Khater, Qatar 2022 World Cup Chief Executive, fans are not completely banned from drinking alcohol.
“There is a misunderstanding about the sale of alcohol in stadiums and designated zones,” Al Khater added. “We are working like any other World Cup, as usual.”
“Very simply, we have always stated that alcohol sales are available in Qatar and will make it available in certain zones.”
The fanfest will air from 6:30 p.m, but will attract large numbers of families and children and we want to give them the opportunity to be in an alcohol-free zone for certain parts of the day. Later, fans will have alcohol available, explained Al Khater.
