DBasia.news –  The UEFA Super Cup 2019 was successfully won by Liverpool after defeating Chelsea, the defending champions of the Europa League, at Vodafone Park on Thursday (8/15) early morning Western Indonesian Time.

Coming from behind first through Olivier Giroud’s goal in the 36th minute, the Reds managed to equalize to 1-1 through Sadio Mane early in the second half. The Senegalese player then scored the second goal and brought his team back ahead in the 95th minute.

Unfortunately, the match finally had to proceed to the penalty shootout after Jorginho successfully broke into Adrian’s goal through his penalty in the 101st minute. Determination of the winner continues into the shootout round, the Reds finally came out as winners with a thin score of 5-4 after Adrian successfully dismissed Tammy Abraham’s kick.

Responding to the victory and the two goals he scored, Sadio Mane also felt happy and did not forget to thank Roberto Firmino who played an important role incised two assists in the match.

“To be honest, I feel like a very lucky player. I think all the awards and praise must be given to teammates, especially Bobby (Roberto Firmino). He could have scored, but he prefers to give the ball to me,” said Mane as reported by the official club page.

“This is how we play in Liverpool. The players are always together and always enjoy being on the field. I think that is what makes the team stronger,” added the 27-year-old.

As additional information, Mane’s two goals in this match also felt even more special. In total, he has collected 19 goals in 2019 as well as being the first African player to score in the UEFA Super Cup after Frederic Kanoute did it against Barcelona in 2006.

Sadio Mane has the chance to return to Jurgen Klopp’s first choice when they go on the trip to St. Marys Stadium, Southampton headquarters, Saturday (8/17).
