DBasia.news – Two games will determine which of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will represent their country at the World Cup later this year, with Liverpool’s number 11 “fit and ready” for the occasion.
This is the second time the two Reds stars have fought on the international stage for the coveted prize.
A penalty shoot-out victory for Mane cs in the Africa Cup of Nations final in February created euphoric celebrations in Senegal while Egypt remained silent to watch.
Now, only one of the two wingers can seal a ticket to Qatar later in the year with an aggregate win over two legs in the qualifying playoffs.
And although he missed the trip to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup due to a foot injury sustained against Brighton, Egypt will not lose their captaincy in the first leg on Friday (25/03).
“Mohamed Salah is fit and ready for the game,” said general manager of the Egyptian national team, Diaa El-Sayed, quoted by KingFut.
The hope, of course, is that the issue has been resolved and will not resurface during the international break, as the player was a key part of Liverpool’s final months of the season.
And with the gamble everyone knows, Salah has only a simple message ahead of the first leg as he prepares to lead his team once again.
“We promise everyone that the players will give everything to win this match,” he told his team-mates during the Foreign Minister’s visit to the national team.
“I don’t want to say much because everyone knows the importance of two games and God willing we will win the game.”
