DBasia.news – Not finished with Eden Hazard’s injury problem, now it is the turn of team captain Sergio Ramos, who is on a long hiatus with Real Madrid.
Recent reports suggest that Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos will undergo knee surgery on Saturday evening local time, with the center-back being operated on in the Spanish capital where the meniscus in his left knee will be repaired.
That’s according to a report from Cadena Cope which claims that the 34-year-old center-back will be out for the next six to seven weeks to recover.
This means that the influential defender will miss Real Madrid’s Champions League match against Atalanta at the end of February for the first leg in Bergamo and in mid-March for the second leg at Alfredo di Stefano.
Sergio Ramos has not previously played since the semi-finals of the Spanish Super Cup, which was played on January 12 local time in Malaga.
This week, he actually trained with his other team-mates on Wednesday and Thursday at Valdebebas, which has led many to believe he will feature against Huesca on Saturday evening (6/2).
However, on Thursday evening, the pain returned, meaning Sergio Ramos did not train on Friday and will now have to undergo new tests, which determine that the best solution is to have meniscus surgery and operate on his left knee.
The 34-year-old defender first suffered a muscle injury with the Spanish national team in November which ended in a 6-0 win over Germany. Upon his return from international duty, it was clear that he began to have physical problems.
Now Sergio Ramos is predicted to miss both Champions League last 16 matches against Atalanta, and La Liga matches against Huesca, Getafe, Valencia, Valladolid, Real Sociedad, Atletico Madrid, Elche, Celta and Eibar. However, he can return for the El Clasico match on April 11.
