DBasia.news – Reportedly, Atletico Madrid is only one step away from signing Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham Hotspur.
His position at the Spurs has not been that great, with Antonio Conte apparently not including the left-back in his plans for this season.
Reguilon wasn’t even played in the four weeks of the 2022/23 Premier League, with Conte preferring to play Ryan Sessegnon or Ivan Perisic.
The Lilywhites are clearly happy to let go of the left-back, with the Spurs willing to let Reguilon go on a season-long loan.
“Sergio Reguilon to Atletico Madrid, here we go! A full agreement was reached on Saturday. Reguilon will travel to Spain on Monday to undergo a medical test and sign a contract,” reported European transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano.
“Loan agreement from Tottenham, does not include a purchase option at the end.”
It’s no wonder that Los Rojiblancos have been targeting the left-back recently, with Renan Lodi reportedly set to be released to Premier League promotion team Nottingham Forest.
Lodi will be released by Atletico on loan for a fee of 5 million euros, including an option to purchase at the end for a fee of 30 million euros next summer.
Reguilon’s presence at the Wanda Metropolitano is expected to fill the hole left by Lodi. However, the Spanish international player must be ready to compete with Nahuel Molina for the starting position.
