Sevilla brought in Oscar Rodriguez from Real Madrid
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Sevilla officially signed Oscar Rodriguez from Real Madrid on a five-year contract. Sevilla reportedly spent 16 million euros (14.2 million pounds / 19 million dollars) on 75 percent of ownership rights, with Real Madrid owning 25 percent.
“Real Madrid C.F. and Sevilla F.C. have agreed on the transfer of Oscar Rodriguez,” wrote a statement from Los Blancos on their official website.
“Real Madrid would like to thank Oscar for his dedication, professionalism and example during his time at our club and wish him all the best in this new chapter.”
Oscar came from the Madrid academy, but spent the previous two seasons on loan with Leganes, helping them stay in La Liga in the 2018/19 season.
However, Leganes were unable to repeat that achievement in the 2019/20 season as he had to be relegated. Even so, Oscar is able to enjoy his fine season individually.
Oscar scored nine goals which made him Leganes’ top scorer and he also provided a pair of assists.
Oscar’s arrival is believed to ease the task of Sevilla, who lost Ever Banega. The 22-year-old midfielder is known to have good technique and is a set-piece specialist.
Banega, an experienced playmaker from Argentina, joined Saudi Arabian club, Al-Shabab after helping Sevilla to the Europa League trophy by beating Inter Milan in the final.
Oscar was previously linked with a number of clubs, especially Milan, but he chose to join Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, with a taste of the Champions League competition in the 2020/21 season.
As part of the deal, Sevilla will reportedly keep Real Madrid informed of the offer they have received for center-back, Jules Kounde. Oscar received his first call to the Spanish national team on August 20.
