DBasia.news – Sevilla’s chance of becoming champions have dimmed after being defeated 0-1 at home by Athletic Bilbao in Week 34 of La Liga on Tuesday, am WIB, according to the official Spanish League page.

Sevilla is targeting victory in the match at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in order to maintain competition with Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The visitors also still have the chance to become champions this season as they are in fourth place in the standings. Therefore, coach Julen Lopetegui lowered his best squad.

Suso, Youssef En-Nesyri and Alejandro Gomez were trusted to lead the attack, including Lucas Ocampos. Sevilla played dominantly by creating 18 attempts, but still failed to threaten Unai Simon’s goal.

Simon made only three saves over 90 minutes, all of which were chances on target for Sevilla. Meanwhile, Bilbao more often defended and launched a counterattack.

It appeared like it was going to end in a draw before Inaki Williams saw Sevilla drop three important points. Bilbao counterattacked in the 90th minute, starting with Oihan Sancet’s pass to Williams who finished it with a hard kick into the top right corner of Yaccine Bounou’s goal.

Sevilla who tried to retaliate with the remaining time finally failed and had to accept the 0-1 defeat. This defeat left them stuck in fourth place in the standings with 70 points, four points from Madrid and Barcelona, and six points from Atletico who are at the top.

Meanwhile, this victory has made Athletic Bilbao sit in ninth position with 45 points.

With four matches remaining, the chances of Sevilla in becoming champions are much smaller than their three rival clubs.
