Sir Alex Ferguson Was Almost Fired by Manchester United

DBasia.news – The legendary Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, reveals the story of his past while leading at Old Trafford. Ferguson admitted that he had almost been fired.

The 1989-1990 season did not go smoothly for Sir Alex Ferguson. Manchester United have lost four of their five matches.

However, with great effort, Manchester United was finally able to turn things around. The Red Devils won the FA Cup that season. Meanwhile, the times that followed are fond memories.

“I think there will be times when you do not win games, to be precise in December 1989. We never won,” recalled Ferguson as reported by the Daily Star.

“I grew up with a working-class background. Giving up and having doubts never arose in me.”

“I’m always positive about where to go. I’ll look at all the training records and the team’s options. The next day will always be better for me. So doubts come from other people, not from me.”

Biggest regret

With his long time with Man United, Ferguson has the single biggest regret. “The same team in 1994 had four old defenders together. It was a bad thing for me because they were extraordinary,” said Ferguson.

“Paul Parker, Steve Bruce, Gary Pallister and Denis Irwin are fantastic players. They gave me nine or 10 years and the proof is always on the pitch.”

“The problem for me is what to do. I managed to organize the movement for them and it was done very well. However, telling them was very difficult.”
