DBasia.news – As long as the current owners of Manchester United are in power, there will always be a desire from most of the fans at Old Trafford for them to sell their club.
The lineup was enthusiastic when they might get what they want in the summer when Sir Jim Ratcliffe expressed interest in purchasing the Red Devils, but the Glazers have stuck with it.
Talking about the interest, the British billionaire told the Financial Times: “I was a Manchester United fan all my life. I was there in the most incredible game of ’99 in Barcelona [Champions League final against Bayern Munich]. It’s engraved in my mind.
“Manchester United is owned by the Glazer family. I have met Joel and Avram. They are good people, I must say they are proper gentlemen. They don’t want to sell [the club].
“It’s owned by six children from their father. If it were sold in the summer, we might have bought it after being interested in Chelsea. But we can’t sit back and hope that one day Manchester United will be available.”
The potential purchase of the UK’s biggest football club will not be the first time Ratcliffe has invested in sport. His Ineos group owns a third of the Mercedes Formula 1 team and they also own the majority of Ligue 1 team OGC Nice.
Until the Glazers express an interest in selling the club, or accept an irresistible offer, they will remain the owners.
Their refusal to sell remains unchanged, but the story could be different as United supporters continue to express displeasure with the American family.
