DBasia.news – Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes all Manchester United strikers will contribute more goals this season to lighten the scoring burden on Bruno Fernandes.
Fernandes immediately transformed into the main star of Manchester United since being signed from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020. The success of the Red Devils finishing in the top three in two consecutive seasons cannot be separated from his contribution.
Fernandes is able to carry out the role of creator of the Manchester United attack. He is able to be a servant to the attacker as well as a deadly finisher.
The quality of Fernandes is increasingly complete with his expertise as an executor of dead balls for Manchester United. No wonder he became the club’s top scorer last season with a collection of 28 goals.
Solskjaer is certainly happy to have a player like Fernandes. But dependence on one player can be bad in the long run.
Manchester United’s game will be easier to anticipate in these conditions. Opponents only have to guard the movement of Fernandes to reduce the strength of the Old Trafford stronghold.
Solskjaer has a surefire way to remove this dependence. He wants Fernandes’ burden to be shared with other players.
“To be able to spread goals to more strikers will be important for us. An attacking midfielder can’t be the only player to reach 15 or 20 goals for us,” Solskjaer told the club’s official website.
This also seems to be behind the arrival of Jadon Sancho. The 21-year-old winger is known to be quite sharp and diligent in making assists.
But the burden is precisely what Solskjaer wants to share with the center forwards. He indirectly asked Anthony Martial, Edinson Cavani, and Mason Greenwood to score more goals.
“Anthony (Martial) will score more goals than he did last season. Mason (Greenwood) will also improve,” he added.
“Edinson (Cavani) was late last season so will score more goals now. Jadon will come on and score goals so I feel confident that the burden is not only on Bruno to score goals.”
