Solskjaer denies Ronaldo interfering with his tactics

DBasia.news – Manchester United’s defeat against Young Boys in the inaugural match of the 2021-2022 Champions League left a story. Cristiano Ronaldo has been accused of interfering in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s role as manager.

In that match, Ronaldo appeared as a starter. CR7 was even able to score a goal when the game had only been running for 13 minutes.

But Solskjaer then pulled out Ronaldo in the 72nd minute. At that time Manchester United was in a depressed position as they played with ten players after Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sent off.

While on the bench, Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes were seen standing up and giving instructions. This was then considered a form of interference to Solskjaer.

The scene was highlighted by former Manchester United player, Rio Ferdinand. He thinks Solskjaer should have told the two Portuguese players to sit down.

“If I were the manager I would have to be honest and tell them to sit down,” said Ferdinand.

This statement was then responded to by Solskjaer. The Norwegian coach insisted that Ferdinand did not know the truth.

“Bruno (Fernandes) and Cristiano were there for a short time shouting at the referee. It should have been a yellow card for Martins Pereira when he brought down Nemanja Matic,” said Solskjaer.

“Those who were both competitive were suddenly beside me. But then the two of them sat back down because only one person was allowed to stand in the technical area.”

“Rio (Ferdinand) sometimes comments on things he doesn’t really know,” he added.

On the same occasion, Solskjaer also emphasized that Ronaldo’s presence did not change Manchester United’s playing style. He still uses the same tactics since last season.

“Tactically, he (Ronaldo) gave us what we wanted from him. It’s about bringing the best out of the team, not one player.”
