Solskjaer Has His Own Philosophy Regarding Manchester United’s Playing Style

DBasia.news – Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has his own philosophy regarding the style of play he applies to the Red Devils. Not tiki-taka or philanesia, Solskjaer puts more emphasis on the speed of his players.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has coached Manchester United since December 2018. He has filled the position left by Jose Mourinho.

Since then, Manchester United have had their ups and downs. On several occasions, the Red Devils played well against big teams. However, when they met the Semenjana club, Man United failed.

Until now, Solskjaer is still trying to implement the style of play he wants. The 47-year-old manager wants Man United to have a deadly counterattack.

“Of course, we will look at Man United at the moment. We are a team that wants to press. We want to be dangerous on the counter-attack,” Solskjaer said on Manchester United’s official website.

“We want to have fast players who can make it difficult for the opponent when we defend well,” he added.

“However, there will be more clubs who defend deeply. You have to know how to break down their defenses.”

Solskjaer feels Manchester United are slowly starting to live up to their hopes. Now, what is needed is to maintain consistency.

“I think we have shown the desired style of play against Everton. We scored from a cross. We got the winning goal on the counter-attack. So, we don’t want to stick to one style of play.”

“We want to have strikers who are free to showcase their talents. Of course, we also want to dominate the game. We are going in that direction. The players are growing.”

Next, Manchester United will host Istanbul Basaksehir on matchday 4 of Group H of the 2020-2021 Champions League, at Old Trafford Stadium, Wednesday (25/11).
