Solskjaer Reluctant to Comment on Man City’s Appeal in CAS

DBasia.news – Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not seem to want to interfere in the vortex of conflict related to the cancellation of Manchester City’s sanctions. The Norwegian manager prefers to focus on bringing his team to finish in the top four.

In February, UEFA handed Manchester City a ban on participating in European competition for two seasons. The Citizens is considered to have violated the rules of Financial Fair Play.

The sanctions were later annulled after Manchester City’s appeal was accepted by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). That means Pep Guardiola’s team can perform in the Champions League next season.

This has made many parties hurl criticisms. Jose Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp, are included in the people who are dissatisfied with the decision.

Though mathematically, the cancellation of these sanctions would actually be more detrimental to Manchester United. If Manchester City had to undergo the sanction, the Red Devils does not need to desperately to finish in the top four because being in fifth place is enough to win the Champions League ticket.

So Manchester United’s side should be the one who is vocal in protesting this. But Solskjaer chose to respond maturely.

“I think other people can and want to debate it. I don’t think it’s my job because my job is to focus on the next match and do the right thing,” Solskjaer said.

“Financial Fair Play is made to safeguard the financial condition of a football club and it’s important. They give us rules, that’s what we focus on and let others discuss rights and wrongs.”

Manchester United does not need to be phased by this problem. Their chances of finishing in the top four are now wide open.

Marcus Rashford and his colleagues are confirmed to win fourth place if they win the remaining three matches. In the last match, Manchester United will kill each other with Leicester City to prove who deserves more Champions League tickets.
