Son Heung-min Praised U23 South Korea Young Players

DBasia.news – The South Korea national team captain Son Heung-min praised the young players after defeating Iran in the round of 16 in 2018 Asian Games. In the match conducted at Wibawa Mukti Stadium, Thursday, South Korea won 2-0.

Though dominating the game, South Korea just scored the deadlock four minutes before the break. Hwang Ui-jo scored the goal to Iran.

South Korea added the score when the second round went 5′. This time, it’s for Lee Seung-woo who scored his name on the scoreboard.

The victory made South Korea passed to the quarter-final of 2018 Asian Games. The Taeguk Warriors will play against Uzbekistan.

After the match, Son Heung-min admitted that he was proud of the teammates’ performance. The Tottenham Hotspur player praised the players who are younger than him.

“The South Korea young players worked harder than me. We know, Iran is not an easy opponent. But we believe to others,” Son Heung-min told Yonhap News.

“I have to give an example to the young players amid the tight schedule. When we win, all the exhaustion is gone. I and all the South Korea players will have a rest before the next match,” Son Heung-min added.

South Korea will play against Uzbekistan at Patriot Stadium, Monday (27/8). Statistically, Uzbekistan are much easier than Iran, but Son Heung-min and friends won’t underestimate them to gain the gold medal of 2018 Asian Games.
