DBasia.news – Southampton goalkeeper, Angus Gunn, was highlighted after his team lost a landslide score of 0-9 to Leicester City in Week 10 of the Premier League.
Quoted from Whoscored data, the 23-year-old goalkeeper is actually still able to make 6 saves or three times more than Leicester goalkeeper, Kasper Schmeichel.
The Norwich-born goalkeeper began his career at the Norwich City academy and briefly joined the Manchester City youth team and was promoted to the main team in 2017. Interestingly, Gunn himself had said that being a goalkeeper was not his ambition.
“I became a goalkeeper at the Norwich academy because of accidental factors. One of my colleagues got injured. “Someone gave me goalkeeper gloves and after that moment I was always under the crossbar,” Gunn was quoted as saying by Mirror.
However, Gunn’s family was actually thrilled with his new position. As Bryan Gunn’s father was a former professional goalkeeper who had also been a goalkeeper for Norwich in the ’80s.
“After that moment my father told my mother that my new position was a goalkeeper. I don’t think my mother was happy about that. Maybe my mother said, I’ve been dealing with other goalkeepers for 20 years, “said Gunn.
